Keeping Christ in Coaching

Since I've put posts out there on LinkedIn and Facebook that I'm starting Life Coaching, I can't believe how my feed has been filled with ads targeted at helping to grow a coaching business. At first I thought it would be helpful to attend some of these free webinars and sign up for some of these newsletters. But only a week in and I'm already disgusted by how much it seems there are many coaches out there only interested in making 6 figures (or even 7 figures- as many coaches brag they've done). There's all these tips about how to make the most money with the smallest investment of time and how to attract top-paying clients, blah, blah, blah. It makes my stomach turn, because I got into this feeling like it's a way to do ministry. I felt God was leading it, I saw Him answer prayers to start opening doors to do this, and I truly believe that as long as I stay connected to Him in my own daily life; that He'll lead people to me who really want to deepen their own walks; or get help processing something heavy and challenging that is stretching their faith. I had no idea that Life Coaching was a multi-billion dollar industry and that some people pay $2500 for a Life Coach! That's literally crazy talk to me. I have to remember, though, that many Life Coaches are not coming at it as Christian Life Coaches. Their target demographic is Fortune 500 companies, doing Executive and Leadership Coaching. That's not my niche, it's not what i'm interested in at all. I want to always be available and affordable for the average Christian woman who just needs a sounding ear to help her process and figure out the best path forward out of whatever has her stuck at the moment.
